Always an honour to join the opening ceremony of Back to Batoche with my colleagues. It’s an amazing and inspiring gathering that proudly celebrates Métis culture, heritage, and community.

It was wonderful to watch the buffalo harvesting demonstration and experience other Métis traditions that have been passed down through generations.

Did you know that for one weekend each year, Back to Batoche becomes the third-largest “city” in Saskatchewan? It’s a remarkable celebration that brings thousands of people together to honour history, culture, and the enduring spirit of the Métis Nation.
